The Jaime & Blanca Jarrín Foundation has partnered with Los Defensores to Award First-Generation Latino Students With $50,000 in College and Law School Scholarships.
Los Angeles, CA —Los Defensores, an LA-based legal services company, has partnered with The Jaime & Blanca Jarrín Foundation to close the education gap and inspire Latino students to obtain life-changing higher education degrees.
With a shared goal of empowering the Latino community, the two organizations will be giving away a total of $50,000 in financial aid, which includes five $5,000 scholarships for undergraduate journalism and communications students and two $12,500 scholarships to graduate students pursuing a law degree.
For the last 40 years, Los Defensores has been committed to putting Latinos first, and now, they continue to pave the way with scholarships that help students overcome the financial obstacles and social barriers that often keep them from achieving their career goals and dreams.
The scholarship application window opens to students on Monday, May 6, 2024, and runs through Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Scholarship Requirements
To qualify, students must have:
- A 3.0 GPA or higher
- In need of financial aid
- Previous service in the Latino community
- A letter of recommendation from someone in the local community
- Currently enrolled at a California-based Liberal Arts School with an interest in communications, journalism, or law.

2024 Scholarship Application Deadlines
Scholarship applications open on May 6, 2024. Applications are due on June 2, 2024. 20th. All finalists will be contacted for live interviews on June 20th.
Final scholarship recipients will be notified on June 28, 2024.
